The GO Virginia grant, which contains $500,000 in state funding and $251,300 from matching nonstate sources, builds on a Virginia Tech-led coalition of more than 150 general public, private, and nonprofit corporations that was one particular of 60 finalists for the U.S. Financial Progress Administration’s $1 billion Develop Back again Greater Regional Obstacle. John Provo, government director of the Centre for Financial and Local community Engagement, which serves as GO Virginia’s regional support group, lauded this new effort. He explained the funding will allow the coalition to transfer forward with initiatives to assist organizations grow, construct a shared identification for the cluster, and build a various and technically ready workforce.

Pamela VandeVord, affiliate dean of analysis and innovation in the Higher education of Engineering and the N. Waldo Harrison Professor of the Office of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics, is principal investigator on the grant.
